TOGETHER IS BETTER
Launched in June 2021, Together is Better is Homes for Students’ Equality and Diversity Forum. It is a company-wide group looking to share experiences, develop best practice and support our leadership, colleagues, and residents in our journey towards inclusivity.
Together is Better meets regularly and membership is open to all colleagues, bringing together diverse voices from across the entire business.

Pride in The Workplace
Hosting a series of events focusing on the LGBTQ+ community including marching at Liverpool Pride and a webinar on the importance of Pride in 2022.
Disability Awareness
Rolling out in-person disability awareness training across the business to educate our colleagues on the experiences of disabled people.
Mental Health Awareness
Hosting a company-wide Tea and Talk event to highlight the important of mental health, and encourage our colleagues to spend some time chatting over a cup of tea.
Updating Guidance
Producing and updating guidance for our line managers to ensure they are equipped with the right knowledge and skillsets, including the roll out of “Ramadan Guidance for Managers”.
Spearheading a Diversity and Inclusion Communications Strategy
Ensuring that the wider business is engaged in Homes for Students’ inclusion journey. This includes blogs on the importance of recognising each other’s chosen pronouns and celebrating women in business. Our team members also delivered interviews and podcasts about the experiences of being a black woman in the workplace and a mixed-race woman in the UK.
