Home 5 Announcements 5 Homes for Students signs up for Inclusive Employers

Homes for Students has partnered with Inclusive Employers to go further in its commitment to equality and diversity.

Inclusive Employers is providing Home for Students with an integrated education programme designed to drive positive change within the business and lead the way in promoting equality across the PBSA sector.

The programme encompasses everyone associated with Homes for Students from the board of directors to colleagues within the business to the students living at the accommodation they manage. Feedback from the programme will shape how Homes for Students operates and conducts its business in the future with focus on training and communication.

As part of the recommitment, Homes for Students has also set up its own internal diversity champions group. The “Together is Better” group brings together diverse voices from across the business to help promote a culture of inclusion and ensure best practice. The 15-strong group meet each month to exchange and implement ideas, share stories and feedback from their respective areas of the business.

Stephanie Wessel, Interim Head of HR, said: “We are delighted to be working with Inclusive Employers to evoke real change within the business and have a positive impact on our colleagues and on the students living with us.

“We are already a proud employer of people from a wide variety of faiths and beliefs and this recommitment will ensure all voices continue to be heard.”

Established in 2011, Inclusive Employers are experts on workplace inclusion. They are the first and leading membership organisation for employers who are committed to prioritising inclusion and creating truly inclusive workplaces.

This week, Homes for Students celebrates National Inclusion Week alongside Inclusive Employers.  National Inclusion Week, which runs from September 27th – October 3rd 2021, aims to raise awareness of inclusion in the workplace. Now in its ninth year, the 2021 theme for National Inclusion Week is United For Inclusion. It is about bringing people and organisations together to share learning and best practice so we can work together to reach our shared goal of making inclusion an everyday reality.

Last year over 2,000 organisations took part in National Inclusion Week and the combined activities connected with over 16 million people using #NationalInclusionWeek2020 – this year our actions and activities will spread the message that we are all #UnitedForInclusion.

Rupert Moyne, Managing Director of Corporate Services at Inclusive Employers, said: “I’m delighted that Homes for Students is joining employers around the world by taking part in National Inclusion Week 2021.

“The last year has really brought the need for inclusion into sharp focus. Many of us have spent the past twelve months working remotely and I therefore hope that United For Inclusion, the 2021 theme of National Inclusion Week, brings us closer to our colleagues and other organisations as we together celebrate, share and inspire inclusion practices.

“Homes for Students’ involvement in National Inclusion Week shows that they take building an inclusive workplace seriously and I welcome their commitment to do so.”
